I just read a very unfortunate article about a trainee electrician injured whilst changing lights in a factory. Health and Safety, yet another reason why we keep talking about LED warehouse lights – you don’t need to change them because they’ll last for years! (and that’s even guaranteed). Many of our clients have realised that if you buy LED lights that are guaranteed and will last 10years+, then you don’t need to keep sending people up on gantry’s, cherry pickers and the like. The lights are better, save you tons of energy (or is that carbon!), and they simply sit up there for many, many years. No more blown bulbs. Another reason for using LED Warehouse lights
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011Isn’t it funny how many people respond to blogs they haven’t read?
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011I just noticed (after realising that the spam filter isn’t working) that of the 157 comments we had on our LED lighting posts – not one of them was from a human being – they’re all blog robots. Which then got me thinking – why (oh why) would a developer waste their time writing blog robots in the first place. I assumed that the idea of writing blogs was to ‘enthral’, ‘innovate’, ‘create food for thought’ – however, it’s obviously just another way for some loon to create software that just trawls posts and replies with gibberish. I guess us real people should just feel sorry for those out there with a dirth of imagination who can’t actually write. Shame really
LED headlights trickling down from premium cars
Thursday, May 26th, 2011That was interesting. Whilst LED headlights have been available in premium models for a while now, Audi are trickling them down to their more mainstream models. Mercedes were the first to introduce LED headlights a while back – other manufacturers followed but there is still a slight issue with the LED vs Xenon battle. Some Xenon’s (the A8 for example) use an adaptive technology so that the lights automatically dip when approaching other cars – they also manipulate the cut-off to reduce dazzle. At the moment though this isn’t available with the LED’s – though they are saying it will come. http://www.electronicsweekly.com/Articles/2010/01/22/47855/led-headlights-beam-beyond-premium-cars.htm.
Dialight DuroSite™ LED High Bay Earns Gold and Platinum in 2011 Architectural SSL Product Innovation Awards
Wednesday, May 25th, 2011Another award for our lights. Is is any wonder we’re fitting them into more and more warehouses around the country. It’s a key factor in the take up of LED lighting (especially in a warehouse or a refrigerated environment) that they a) don’t generate a lot of heat, b) use around 66% less energy and c) last so much longer than traditional lights. Just think – if you replace a traditional 400W high bay with one of ours, you’ll save 250W of electricity – and save 80W off your air conditioning!
ExCeL Centre chooses Dialight high bay LED lights

ExCeL Centre London
The award winning ExCeL centre in London has selected Dialight’s DuroSite LED high bay lights to replace their 400W HPS units in the main boulevard.
They have achieved a 70% energy saving and a doubling of light levels from the 194 units fitted and are now looking to fit Dialight’s DuroSite LED high bay lights throughout ExCeL’s 46 conference halls.
Chris Barnes, Engineering and Energy Manager, had trialled other LED lights and says: “Dialight’s High Bay suits the purpose for the building; it looks nice, it’s aesthetically pleasing, it ticks all the boxes. For example, the boulevard is a public area and when there’s a power cut the HPS can take 2-3 minutes to come back on, whereas the LED is back on instantly.” He added “Considering our ceiling height is 10 metres, [installation] was very easy – four guys, six nights on two ‘magic carpets’.”
ExCeL London’s management team takes great pride in having one of the greenest and most energy efficient exhibition centres in the world. By replacing the high pressure sodium lamps with Dialight LED High Bays they will potentially save close to 700kW of energy per day equating to over 250MW of energy per year. On top of that the LED High Bays carry Dialight’s 5-year warranty which means they will also save greatly on maintenance.
For Chris Barnes, the main issue is light quality while the reduced energy, maintenance needs and carbon emissions are all added bonuses to the lighting efficiency. As he says, “Our workshop’s immediate reaction to the LED was ‘Wow!’ I’d describe it in two words and say the High Bay is ‘selling itself’.”
Interior Control Ltd. joins the 10:10 campaign

10:10 Campaign logo
We are delighted to announce that Interior Control Ltd. has signed up to the 10:10 campaign.
What is 10:10? you may well ask…
10:10 is an ambitious project to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that by working together we can achieve a 10% cut in the UK’s carbon emissions in 2010.
Why bother?
Why bother jumping out of the way of a speeding car? Why bother removing a burst appendix?
Cutting 10% in one year is a bold target, but for most of us it’s an achievable one, and is in line with what scientists say we need over the next 18 months. We now know for certain that unless we act quickly to reduce our use of dirty fossil fuels, humanity will face terrible problems in the years to come. Politicians have so far failed to do what needs to be done, so it’s time for ordinary people to step in and show that we’re ready to defend our children’s futures. It’s now or never for the climate.
By signing up to a 10% target we’re not just supporting 10:10 – we’re making it happen. In our homes, in our workplaces, our schools and our hospitals, our galleries and football clubs and universities, we’ll be backing each other up as we take the first steps on the road to becoming a zero-carbon society. It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of a huge problem like climate change, but by uniting everyone behind immediate, effective and achievable action, 10:10 enables all of us to make a meaningful difference.
What can we do to help you?
Both the MACH and our range of smart meter products will substantially reduce your energy consumption, often helping you to meet your 10% commitment in one go. Find out more at http://www.interiorcontrol.co.uk
How does this work with the CRC?
The 10:10 campaign is in no way linked with the government’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly know as the Carbon Reduction Commitment or CRC) legislation due to start in April 2010. However, if you are working towards reducing your emissions by 10% in 2010 then you are clearly on your way to meeting your obligations under the CRC.
Hospitality day at Duxford
Thursday, July 16th, 2009Interior Control Ltd had a great event at Duxford this weekend. The sun shone, the wine flowed, (and some beer- hic!), the planes flew well and stirred even the cynical to a round of applause. The VIP area was well attended, the legendary Interior Control corporate hospitality went down well with all the guests. We were very privileged to be that close to Spitfire’s, Hurricanes, a B17 & B25’s, P51 Mustangs etc. The noise was awesome at times. We were sorry that our Hilton guests were unable to make the day this year, but MACE enjoyed their day enormously, and one of their architects was moved to say she was very impressed with the MACH system and thoroughly enjoyed the day. She wishes us every success with MACH.
Our very talented pilot and engineering consultant Mr Ken Gray played a pivotal role in keeping everyone happy on the day, (at times we felt he almost ran the place with the special favours he was able to lay on for our guests). Thanks to all the pilots, (and Ken), for a stunning weekend, we all look forward to doing it again.
If you missed out this year and would like to join us next year then all you have to be is “very nice” to Ken, or Alex, or Chris, et al at Interior Control Ltd…….!.
See you at our next event. Don’t miss it, watch our blog’s for details.
The sales & marketing team is complete
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009Just to prove we are an equal opportunity employer (for all you p.c. folk out there) we are very happy to announce the addition to our superb sales & marketing team of Emma Parker.
Emma has a wealth of experience but more importantly has an inner drive to be ‘Green’. She has spent most of her career helping to reduce carbon and deliver added value to her clients. Her ability to recognise an excellent product and it’s benefits were very apparent in our interviews to the point she was able to teach us a couple of things – thank you Emma they have now been added to our web. We always recognise contributions and talent and we are never too old to learn a new thing or two.
We are confident that Emma’s unique perspective will complete a phenomenal sales and marketing team.
Emma we welcome you to the Interior Control team. Long may you continue to think outside the box.

Another top rectuit
Monday, June 29th, 2009Alan Sugar never gets apprentices as good as ours, were rigorous but our interviews do not take 12 weeks! Our applicants do not have the time, and none of us have to play up to the cameras to entertain. We do not have to spend weeks of our lives in front off T.V. crews to find the best recruits for Interior Control Ltd, just a vigorous interview regime that is as thorough as our site surveys and installations. We just pick the best with the help of our excellent appraisal system.
We are delighted to announce that we have invited Chris Storey to join our team, and he has accepted.
Chris has an excellent attitude, honesty, and high I.Q. (like all our recruits), and will be a great asset to the Interior Control team. He has a wealth of experience but more importantly a drive and ambition which will take him far within the Interior Control organisation (he wants the M.D.’s job ultimately – great as the MD wants to be chairman!).
Chris’s research abilities are astounding as proven in his many interviews and he combines with this, an excellent charisma, making him a talent to be admired.
Welcome Chris to our exceptional company. We look forward to your future success.
