Four sites chosen for eco-towns

Monday, July 27th, 2009

We note the following from Building Magazine

Sites in Hampshire, Cornwall, Norfolk and Oxfordshire will go forward for full public consultation and local planning approval

Sites in Whitehill-Bordon in Hampshire, St Austell (China Clay) in Cornwall, Rackheath in Norfolk and Northwest Bicester in Oxfordshire will compete for £60m to develop demonstrator projects for the first wave of eco-towns.

The four schemes could provide zero-carbon settlements – including shops, restaurants and public buildings – for up to 30,000 people.

We anticipate that intelligent control will play a major part in achieving these goals.

New CIBSE Guide

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

The CIBSE have just issued the new M Guide, Maintenance and Engineering Management. This is a very valuable document for anyone who is involved in the design and operation of buildings of whatever use. We note that there are now guide figures for maintenance costs and hotels are listed at £1450/100sqm. This is a significant figure and when energy costs are added, quite a burden to hotel owners and operators. Systems like MACH have been specifically designed to reduce these costs and improve efficiency and as also supported by the new guide, are financially validated by applying NPV analyses to the business case when purchasing the system. To quote the old cliché, percentage savings on energy and maintenance ‘go straight to the bottom line’.

The new M Guide can be purchased at www.cibse.org

Hospitality day at Duxford

P51s at Duxford

P51's at Duxford

Interior Control Ltd had a great event at Duxford this weekend. The sun shone, the wine flowed, (and some beer- hic!), the planes flew well and stirred even the cynical to a round of applause. The VIP area was well attended, the legendary Interior Control corporate hospitality went down well with all the guests. We were very privileged to be that close to Spitfire’s, Hurricanes, a B17 & B25’s, P51 Mustangs etc. The noise was awesome at times. We were sorry that our Hilton guests were unable to make the day this year, but MACE enjoyed their day enormously, and one of their architects was moved to say she was very impressed with the MACH system and thoroughly enjoyed the day. She wishes us every success with MACH.

Our very talented pilot and engineering consultant Mr Ken Gray played a pivotal role in keeping everyone happy on the day,  (at times we felt he almost ran the place with the special favours he was able to lay on for our guests). Thanks to all the pilots, (and Ken), for a stunning weekend, we all look forward to doing it again.

If you missed out this year and would like to join us next year then all you have to be is “very nice” to Ken, or Alex, or Chris, et al at Interior Control Ltd…….!.

See you at our next event. Don’t miss it, watch our blog’s for details.

The sales & marketing team is complete

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Just to prove we are an equal opportunity employer (for all you p.c. folk out there) we are very happy to announce the addition to our superb sales & marketing team of Emma Parker.

Emma has a wealth of experience but more importantly has an inner drive to be ‘Green’. She has spent most of her career helping to reduce carbon and deliver added value to her clients. Her ability to recognise an excellent product and it’s benefits were very apparent in our interviews to the point she was able to teach us a couple of things – thank you Emma they have now been added to our web. We always recognise contributions and talent and we are never too old to learn a new thing or two.

We are confident that Emma’s unique perspective will complete a phenomenal sales and marketing team.

Emma we welcome you to the Interior Control team. Long may you continue to think outside the box.
